Dear Nashville Sports Council Members,
As we embark on a new chapter in the rich history of the Nashville Sports Council, it is with immense gratitude and appreciation to each and every one of you for your unwavering support over the past 30 years.
It is truly awe-inspiring to think of the impact that our collective efforts have had on the city of Nashville. With over 200 sporting events under our belt, we have not only showcased the spirit of competition and athleticism but have also contributed significantly to the growth and prosperity of the Music City. The $1.2 billion in direct economic impact that we have generated stands as a testament to our ability to transform Nashville into a thriving sports hub, attracting visitors and businesses alike.
One cannot overlook the staggering numbers that paint a vivid picture of the Nashville sports tourism industry. Through hundreds of events the Nashville Sports Council has been involved in, we have had the privilege of entertaining 4.9 million spectators who have gathered to witness some of Nashville’s biggest sports moments, in addition to those at annual NFL, NHL, MLS and MiLB games. Through 675 hours of television coverage, we have not only brought these events to the world but also placed Nashville firmly on the global sporting map.
The heartbeat of our success, however, resonates with our over 800 individual and corporate members and thousands of volunteers who have selflessly dedicated their time and energy to make these events possible. Their collective impact has been the backbone of our achievements, underscoring the values that make Nashville a truly exceptional sports community.
At the core of our annual calendar lie four standout events; The Big Machine Music City Grand Prix, an exhilarating fusion of motorsports and music, has become a recent highlight of our calendar, drawing fans and drivers alike to experience the thrill of street racing amidst our vibrant cityscape. After 25 years, the TransPerfect Music City Bowl continues to epitomize the excellence of postseason college football, bringing together teams and fans from the Big Ten and SEC for unforgettable moments during the final week of the year.
The SEC Men's Basketball Tournament showcases the best of collegiate basketball, infusing our city with an unparalleled energy for five days in March. Finally, the St. Jude Rock 'n' Roll Running Series Nashville combines the joy of running with the spirit of philanthropy, embodying the values of community and resilience that Nashville holds dear.
These achievements are not simply statistics; they are a reflection of the very essence of the Nashville Sports Council's mission. Our core objective has always been to positively impact the economy and quality of life for the greater Nashville area. Through your collective dedication, we have accomplished exactly that – fostering an environment where professional and amateur sporting events flourish, attracting diverse audiences and contributing to the vibrancy of our city.
As we celebrate these milestones, I am reminded that fulfilling our mission is far from over. The foundation we have built together serves as the launching pad for an even brighter future. The potential that lies ahead is boundless, and I have no doubt that with your continued support and unwavering dedication, we will achieve new heights and create a legacy for generations to come.
Once again, thank you for your steadfast support, passion and your belief in the power of sports’ value to our community in the next 30 years!
Sincerely,
Scott Ramsey
