An exciting rivalry tennis match is set for Thursday afternoon between two teams that call Nashville home. The Belmont Bruins will make the short trip to the Currey Tennis Center to take on the Tennessee State University Tigers in Ohio Valley Conference play. With only two matches remaining in the regular season, both teams could use the boost a late-season conference win could provide. This is the last area match for both teams, so don’t miss your chance to catch your local teams in action!
This week’s Game of the Week is a double feature as Austin Peay hosts Ohio Valley Conference rival UT Martin in double header action this Sunday afternoon. Both middle Tennessee area teams have a full-week of games ahead of them before they meet each other at Cheryl Holt Field on Sunday. Austin Peay heads to Chattanooga on Wednesday to take on the Mocs in non-conference action at 5 p.m. and on Saturday they host another OVC foe, Southeast Missouri, in a double header, first pitch is at 1 p.m. UT Martin also has a busy week of road games as they travel to MTSU on Wednesday and to Murray State on Saturday.
A couple of area softball teams hit the field this week in a mid-week rivalry game. Middle Tennessee is hosting Tennessee State this Tuesday; first pitch is at 6 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday evening but has been moved up due to weather. This is the 52nd meeting between these two programs and MTSU leads the all-time series record 43-8. In their first match-up last season, TSU earned the win over MTSU 7-4 in a hard-fought game in Nashville. Their second game of the season series which was set in Murfreesboro was canceled, so the Blue Raiders didn’t get a second crack at the Tigers. MTSU will have their chance this Tuesday as they host TSU at Blue Raider Field.
