Volunteer of the Year

Today we recognized Walter Clark, a volunteer who has been involved with our organization for nearly 16 years! Walter first volunteered for the Country Music Marathon, directing people as they exited the bottom of the escalator at the old convention center. After hours of yelling over the noise as hundreds of people came through, he had no voice for two days and almost didn’t come back! Fast forward 16 years later and the Marathon is his favorite event to work. He enjoys getting to interact with people from all over the state, country, and even the world.

Throughout the years he has worked numerous events, because he wanted to do his part to help make sure these events and all the others were successful and helped solidify Nashville's place as a prime location for top quality sporting events. One of his favorite memories is at the Titans 5K seeing then Titans executive Don MacLachlan driving a golf cart with Chance Warmack and Brian Schwenke in the back. With nearly 700 lbs. of humanity in the back of the cart, it looked like it was going to pop a wheelie.

In 2015, Walter volunteered for all of our events, including the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament, Country Music Marathon, DICK’S Sporting Goods Collegiate Challenge Cup, and the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl. Thank you Walter Clark for all you do! It is because of volunteers like you we are able to continue putting on great events for the city of Nashville!
